| weeellll i havent blogged in awhile because of exams..and my laziness xD but last night was my final basketball game, which i will get to the details later ( i know some of you know the result). But I am gonna make an uber long semi-photo blog now about my basketball 'career' in high school =) Waaay back then I started my first season in year 8 with some guys at school, and some guys I knew from around CHERRYBROOK (my suburb). They were Joey Mui, Nathan Fung, Chris Lau, David Mar, Denis Koong, Tim Do and me. I remember our first game when we first the BANDITS, who had 2 state players. I mean come on, we were all lil noobs. We lost 54-5. I scored 5 points ROFL. So we were in deep need of a basketball coach as my dad was too old fashioned in coaching as he only played in high school aswell. I really wanna thank Ben Khoo, Shaun Rodrigues and Dan Kay from Asian Service who pretty much taught me the very basic fundamentals of basketball! Don't think I'd know as much as I would now without you guys~ So anyway, you would've probably guessed 'lol so you guys came last?' .. well technically we didn't because there was ONE team weaker than us LOL, and Wilfred Ho was on that team...hahah~ good times good times. So this is a little side story that will lead up to the main storyline. I met this guy named Trevor on msn through a friend of mine. We talked for a bit and such I found out he goes to Cherrybrook Tech which is right behind my house. One day we started talking about basketball and whaddya know, we play at the same place in the SAME division! So I met up with him and we became friends. I also got to know his team, who all lived around Cherrybrook because it was the Cherrybrook Tech High School team (there were like 3 and they were the worst one LOL). So as my first season ended coming 2nd last, some of his friends were in the other 2 teams and we decided to form a new team together - AND1X. People started calling us ANDIX/ANDICKS because they couldnt read the 1 that was there LOL. This team included Sam Lam, Trevor Tsui, Jo Irawan, Patrick Kuo, Matt Tan, William Kim and Me. We all lived near each other so training was very convenient to go to cause we'd just call each other up and go 'yo~ lets go courts'. I remember our first game with AND1X, I was so nervous because this time I wasn't the best player in the team, afraid to stuff up. We were vsing Kashaul's team (cherrybrook people reading this..you know who kashaul is), up by 1 point in the last 30 seconds. Trevor was taking the ball up the court with Kashaul marking him. I was up ahead and I was calling for a pass. Trevor decides to do a spin move, but gets stripped by Kashaul. We ended up losing that game..=( But oh well, Kashaul's team was considered pretty strong and we only lost by 1 point! It's okay Trev we still love you LOL. The next game was epic. It was the beginning for KOTSUNO (it means air time in japanese). They brought all their girra friends and we had like...my dad LOL. We ended up trashing them 32-8, Victor, who had the name 'NO FLUKE' on the back of his jersey LOL, scored all the points for Kotsuno. I still remember when it was Sam Lam that averaged almost 15+ points a game cause we kept passin to him. One day he got so tired of it and said "jEEZ STOP PASSING TO ME" LOL. Jo's dad also came down on his leave to coach us basketball. His training was hard but worth it in the end. He trained me until I almost hated basketball for a day..haha..From there we ended up finishing 4th of 5th out of 9 teams?? An improvement at least since last season. Also at times we would go to North Sydney Boys to play their school team, the Falcons. My dad knew their team manager so yeah. We had good times Falcons! So many numerous times we'd drive up to play with you guys, despite we didn't get to know you that well but always you guys gave us a challenge. And afterwards we would go to hungry jacks with our coupons! LOL good timesss..
L to R: Sam Lam, Patrick Kuo, Jo Irawan, Trevor Tsui, Me, Matt Tan. the photo was taken at NSB.
Heres us and the Falcons. Haha me and Trev were such kidders xD, after this we recruited Will Lee! a friend of Patrick's. Haha Will, I remember when you always kept trying to do behind the back passes and you kept turning it over LOL. It became like a habit for you hahaha. too much d.wade for you XD So after the season ended. Jo said that the team wasnt going to be continuing so I thought okay, I'll go make a new team (again) LOL. But Jo being Jo, always getting his info wrong they did continue without me. We were still good friends and all. This new team consisted of Jeremy Lee, Kelvin Lok, Denis Koong, Daniel Chew, Edward Zhao, Eric (shit i forgot his last name LOL SORRY ERIC) and me. We were called Zangetsu, Ichigo's bankai from Bleach LOL. We had fun, despite the ball hogging ness from Edward Zhao. I wasn't really looking to championship this team, I was more looking to build friendships with these guys. I brought these guys back to Asian 'P.B' (when we still had it back then), where Ben Khoo and Shaun Rodrigues took their team out to help coach us. Oh! and also Josh Turley who helped us heaps. My best game with these guys was against the ALCHEMISTS. Me and Zhao back to back 3 pointers, the whole crowd was watching~ ahhh~ hahahah. Sorry I dont have any photos for this team =( but I think we finished 2nd or 3rd last out of 10/11 teams. During this season, The Brickpitt at Thornleigh also just opened which had MUCH nicer and cleaner courts at CHEAPER prices, with MUCH BETTER referees (like they werent 7 year olds like they have in hills). So Ryan Tse who I've known at church since year 6, invited me to play with his team. TSC Westleigh Rockets. This team consisted of Ryan Tse, (sorry i forgot all you guys last names) David (Diddy!), Jake, Alex and Matt. All these guys were from Penno ( i think diddy went to private school) but yeah. For me this was like an experimental team, checkin out the brickpitt lolz. I really liked the place alot better than Hills Hornets as i have stated the reasons above. Our best game with this team was when we vsed 2nd place in the competition. We were down by 16 points in the last 5 minutes and we called time out. We all told each other, come on it's only 8 baskets lets do this. Somehow, we managed to get 5 steals in a row which closed the lead to 6 points. The other team was totally losing it at this point. We were soon only down by 2 with 1 minute to go, someone managed to pick up the steal and it was gogogo. Alex put up the last basket and we tied the game! and that was our best game.. LOL good come back boys, thanks for the memories we had together. We ended up finishing 2nd or 3rd last out of 8 teams in this season. I still kept in touch with AND1X and and times I went to help coach their games. At this time also JJ (josh) came to Australia. haha! JJ when you came here you knew like NO english. But you've caught on now and we've watched each other grow since you first came, im glad to have such a good friend like you. so anyway, they said they needed me back to play point guard because they had no sense of momentum. So I went back to them, (yes i PROMISE this is like the last team change). I watched their grand final against the Eager Beavers (they were a racist team, even their moms etc. One of their guys tried to pick a fight with me on 2 occassions. tut tut.) And they lost!!!!1 you douchebags!! they weren't even that good.. so they came runners up at least, with a small trophy to take home.
This was when the douchebags lost to Eager Beavers. I'll put players numbers with names. 8. JJ 18. Patrick 32. Jo 23. Will Kim 15 Trevor 11. Matt Tan 3 Sam Lam
I was on the sideline watching this game. This was the award presentation. Apparnetly Will Lee was still in the team but he didn't show up or something LOL. I told them about brickpitt how it was way better, but there was some argument about it cause everyone we knew and made friends with were at hills etc. But we came to an agreement and went to play at brickpitt. This time we changed our name to BANANA REPUBLIC (hahahah xD) and this team consisted of Ryan Tse, Jo Irawan, Josh Setiawan, Patrick Kuo, Jin Kang, Matt Tan, Sam Lam and me.
Back: Matt , Patrick, Jo, JJ Front: Jin, Me, Sam Lam
I'm the shortest on the far right end =( btw I don't know why Ryan isn't in these photos..maybe he wasn't there on the day lolz. Unfortunately Trevor couldn't continue with us because of a health condition. =(. It was a good team with all the roles a team needed to have. Ryan the shooting guard, Jin who was extremely good at layups, tall inside players like Jo, Patrick and Matt, JJ who was nicknamed 'untouchable' because of how much he sweats LOL, and of course the commander of the court ( point guard ) ~ me. We managed to get into the semi final where we had a devastating loss.. We were up by 1 point in the last 1 minute. Some guy got the ball and JJ already ran back to defend at the key. However, the lil guy stopped at the 3 point line and just PULLED UP FOR A 3!! Yes, it went in and we were all like omg. wtf. We lost by 2. Oh well we finished 3rd that season. So at this time, we decided okay. We need new uniforms (which i designed), a new team name. There was an argument between Sam and JJ about the team name and yess, I had to cool them down lulz. We were called the BlueJayz and this team consisted of Ryan Tse, Jo Irawan, JJ Setiawan, Sam Lam, Luke Hong, Jin Kang, Kyul Song, James Wu and Me. 9 man team xD. But this time we were ready. We made it all the way to the grand final, and we vsed the obnoxious AIRWALKERS. They were also a good team, but that night we were better. I scored the first point (three pointer =]) and also fouled out in the last 5 mintues LOL. We were only up by 2 points in the last 1 minute (yeah alot of things happen in the last 1 minute LOL), and they were on the offense. Ryan came up with a CLUTCH steal, (meaning in absolutely CRUCIAL/TIGHT/IMPORTANT situations) and Luke finished off with a lay up. We won 44-40! Our first championship. Celebratiioonss woo. The trophy looks funny cause it has a bogglehead on it LOL. I'll take a photo of it later when mom comes back from china with the camera. We had an extremely good season with an almost perfect season sweep. We only lost 1 game to the team we beat in the finals the WHOLE season. This was our best season out of em all~

After winning our first championship~ Back: JJ, Jo, Ryan, Luke, Sam Front: James, Me, Kyul, Jin
Me Lookin pleased =) with the bogglehead trophy. So that was the end of the under 16's divisions. After that we had to enter Opens High School division o__O; It was kinda stupid because it was going to last 2 terms, but only the 2nd term's points would count toward the grandfinal scoring soo the first term we just kinda mucked around hahah. Jo's dad still came down every 2 months or so to train us, and was pleased with last terms results. But this time we didn't have Jin for fast breaks and Luke for inside power so we had to change our strategy.. it was hard sorting things out, but we managed to pull it together somehow! These photos were taken when Jo's dad came down during one of his leaves~
I suppose I don't need to tell you who's who. The guy in the middle back is Will Kim! He left our team but came back for this last season. Person down low is my SG boi, Ryan.
Flying Ryan o_O?
Me doing some coool trixxxxxx =D
Posers... so we had like a 'fun' first term of opens high~ didn't really care if we lost but, still kept training. We started the 2nd half in terms 3 and we couldnt afford to lose alot of games to get into finals. I mean come on, we were champions last season right ~_~;; half way through the season we picked up Michael Lam (Sam's lil bro) and Bob! They've played with us sometimes at training so they just joined us for our final season. We ended up with 15 wins and 5 losses. Not bad I guess, but we finished in 3rd place, enough to get us into the finals. Pimp and Roll finished first having only lost 1 game, which was to us. Rockets game 2nd who beat us two times, and Grizzlies came 4th who also beat us twice. Pretty evenly matched top 4 heh. Our semi final was against Rockets, but suprisingly I wasn't that nervous because I knew that the times we lost to them we just..played really bad/selfishly~ But I managed to rack up 9 points, (all 3pointers) and everyone else's shootin was heaps good! I think we shot like 70% from the floor hahaa xD basketball talk..anyway! Michael Lam was our secret weapon!! he kept losing the ball in the beginning so the other team thought "lulz whatta noob dont guard him", so about 10 seconds before half time michael drived all the way up the court, got past like 4 guys and put in the lay up!! LOL~ betcha they were all shocked xD We didn't stay to watch who won the other semi final, but when we did find out a few days later it was kinda funny. Grizzlies vs Pimp and Roll: Grizzlies had alot of supporters but apparently they were telling/pressurising the ref during the game for making wrong calls etc. The ref has every right to kick em out of the stadium, so they did. So then after awhile the Grizzlies weren't too happy so they started doing the same to the ref. The court supervisor found beer cans (opened) on the Grizzlies bench, and by judging the actions of the players - enough to be a bit tipsy, possibly drunk (to get liquid confidence?? HAHA pun..) Grizzlies won by 1 point, but for breaking the law of underage drinking they lost by default LOL. pwnt. So then it was the time of our grandfinal, which was last night. I think I overwarmed up x_x tired myself out.. the start of the game was a bit shaky as Pimp had the advantage over us in scoring. We kept within 2-3 points though and JJ closed us in with freethrows at half time to make it 13-12 (low scoring -_-) My 3 pointers weren't going, neither was some of our plays. Answer? JJ! hahah we could always rely on JJ to pretty much own anyone 1 on 1. JJ got us some more points and we were soon up ahead 20-14. Ryan also made some good plays (and yes my sis said everyone liked em cause they scored heaps.) Well, in the 2nd half I racked up 6 steals! Thats 12 points! because I made the plays heheh..ok i'll stop being a showoff LOL, just want something to say that I did good other than scoring lmao~ We pulled way ahead and never looked back, and won 36-26!
